BMW Direct Access (DAS)

Direct Access training is available to anyone aged 21 or over who holds a full UK car licence or a provisional UK motorcycle licence. We offer different length courses, depending on previous motorcycle experience.

Our Combined Direct Access courses are structured to provide full days on the bike, with the CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) taught as the first part of the course (where applicable). Initial training is done on a 125cc machine before upgrading to the BMW F 650 GS or G 650 Xcountry. On your penultimate day, you will take your Module One Test. Provided you have passed this*, on your final day you will take the Module Two Test.

There are only two pupils to each instructor and courses are run on a weekly basis all year round, except for over Christmas and New Year. One-to-one DAS training is also available on request.

Seven Day Combined Direct Access

This is our standard course designed for riders who have never ridden a motorcycle before, or who have had very limited experience. The Seven Day Combined course includes the CBT, Module One and Module Two Motorcycle Tests*. If you are nervous about learning, of small stature or are not physically fit, then you may require a longer course. We can extend the course to take this into account, so please enquire at the time of booking if you feel you may need more time to learn, or would prefer to learn at a slower pace.

Six Day Combined Direct Access

This course is suitable for individuals who have recently obtained their CBT. Riders must be able to demonstrate to the instructor the basics of riding a geared 125cc motorcycle on day one. If you had some difficulty obtaining the CBT, only did your CBT on an automatic machine, or have not ridden for more than six months since obtaining your CBT; we would recommend that you book the Seven Day Direct Access course, as this will refresh your CBT skills. The Six Day Combined course includes the Module One and Module Two Motorcycle Tests*.

Five Day Combined Direct Access

Riders must already hold their CBT and currently ride a motorcycle on the road or take part in off-road motorcycling. On day one, you must be able to demonstrate to the instructor that you are competent riding a geared 125cc motorcycle on the road so that you can be upgraded to the BMW F 650 GS or G 650 Xcountry on the same day. The Five Day Combined course includes both the Module One and Module Two Motorcycle Tests. The Five Day Combined course includes both the Module One and Module Two Motorcycle Tests*.

BMW Direct Access Module One Only

We offer a three or four day course to take the Module One Motorcycle Test only.

The Three Day Module One course is appropriate for riders who already hold their CBT certificate and who have been riding regularly since obtaining their CBT.

The Four Day Module One course is appropriate for beginners who have never ridden a motorcycle before and will include obtaining your CBT certificate.

Module One courses will include the Module One Test, which will be taken on the final day of your course. Our Module One courses will focus on the manoeuvres required for the Module One Motorcycle Test, but will also include road riding as part of your instruction so that you understand the application of such manoeuvres to real road conditions. This will assist you in preparation for the Module Two Motorcycle Test at a later date.

BMW Direct Access - Module Two Only

We offer a three or four day course to take the Module Two Motorcycle Test only.

The Three Day Module Two course is appropriate for riders who hold their Theory Test, CBT and Module One certificates. Riders must have been riding regularly since passing Module One.

The Four Day Module Two course is appropriate for riders who hold their Module One certificate; but may not have ridden since passing the Module One Test. Once passing Module One, the Module Two Test can only be completed whilst you have a valid Theory Test certificate.

* Riders who chose to do a Combined DAS, but do not pass their Module One Test, will forfeit their test fee for Module Two. The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) states that there must be a clear gap of three working days before attempting the Module One Test for a second time. Nevertheless, they are entitled to continue their course and train on the final day, even though they will be unable to take the Module Two Test.
